LUMENA was founded, and is directly overseen, by a physician board-certified in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine — a specialty forged in the moments where the margin for error is thinnest, and every order has to earn its place through the evidence behind it. That same instinct, honed over years of private pulmonary and critical care consulting practice, became LUMENA's founding principle: look past what's routine, and ask whether a test actually changes the plan.
It's also why LUMENA is cash- and credit-only. Too much of modern medicine is shaped less by a patient's own biology than by what a network happens to approve. LUMENA was built as the alternative — evidence-tiered by design, so nothing on your plan is a guess, and nothing is there because a network required it. Your consultation, your plan, and your follow-up are handled by your physician, personally, start to finish — not routed through a health coach or an algorithm.
LUMENA exists because “normal” isn't the same as “healthy,” and most people never get past normal.
